It is being reported this morning that the new Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish has put in a £5m bid to take the West Ham star Scott Parker to Villa Park after it was revealed that Harry Redknapp is not willing to pay the £70,000 a week that Parker wants to move to White Hart Lane.
Redknapp’s priority at the moment is a striker, but is desperate to make sales to generate transfer funds first, so McLeish has decided to jump in with an early bid to tempt the Hammers.

But West Ham are unlikely to sell Parker for less than £7m after his brilliant performances last season, and especially as they have already received a £10m bid from the Turkish giants Fenerbahce which Parker refused to accept as he strongly wants to remain in London.
His father passed away not long ago so Parker doesn’t want to distance himself from his mother, and he still has the desire to be picked by Fabio Capello for England next season and wants to be playing for a top team to showcase his talents ahead of the European Championships.
His favoured move for personal reasons would be to Arsenal or Tottenham, but Birmingham isn’t too far compared to Turkey!

In all fairness, it sounds like he should stay at the spammers, then.
I get the feeling that Parker is not going to accept anything besides Spurs or Arsenal, and I somehow think he will prefer Spurs. Remember Crouch a few years ago. Other teams offered more, but he ended up at Spurs
I highlt doubt a Turkish side would blindly come in for Parker with a bid of £10m. Weren’t reports stating that the Spammers want £8m? I understand that Parker doesn’t want to earn less than his £70k per week salary wise; however the upside to a move to Spurs is far greater than a weekly salary. It would be feasible for him to earn such an amount if he can convince the Spammers to accept the £5m that was offered.
