Ever since the end of last season, the Spurs manager harry Redknapp has been looking for a replacement for the unpredictable Heurelho Gomes, and with Brad Friedel and Carlo Cudicini nearing the end of their careers he has been looking for a younger more long-term backup.
The latest target appears to be the Bulgarian international keeper Nikolay Mihaylov who is currently playing for FC Twente in Holland. The 23 year-old was bought by Liverpool as back up to Pepe Reina in 2007 but work permit problems scuppered his chances at Anfield and he was snapped up by Twente after an initial loan period.
Mihaylov has now become first-choice keeper at Twente, and his ongoing international appearances for Bulgaria now means he won’t have any problems getting a British work permit.
According to today’s Mirror, Mihaylov could get yet another chance to make his mark in the Premiership with Tottenham, and perhaps Liverpool will regret not holding on to him all those years ago!

Liverpool have an option to buy him back now. He no longer has work permit issues so they may well do.
