Scott Parker’s move to Tottenham draws nearer….

The West Ham star Scott Parker looks even more certain to leave Upton Park this summer after announcing that he is desperate to be in the England team for the Euro2012 tournament next year, and he believes he needs to be playing at the highest level to achieve that.

Parker said yesterday: “Not many players get picked for England from the Championship, that’s just the way it is.

“It is too early to say exactly what is going to happen to me on a personal level. I am sure we will see over the next couple of months.

“There is speculation but it is easy for me to block it out.”

Tottenham and Arsenal have been strongly linked with the Player-of-the-Year as he refuses to leave London, but with Arsene Wenger’s record of dealing with over-30s it is extremely unlikely that he will move to the Emirates, so all clues seem to point to a move to White Hart Lane.

Harry Redknapp is a big admirer of Parker and has no problem with bringing experienced players to Tottenham if they are good enough. Also after a quick look at the betting it would seem certain that a Spurs move is on. SkyBet have Tottenham as the 4/6 favourite to sign him, but Victor Chandler only offer half that price at 1/3.

That is as close to a certainty as you can get in my book……

I would welcome such a move.
Of course the addition of at least one striker able to score regularly it is the top priority.
But I believe that Spurs with the addition of 4-5 proper players will be able to challenge a top four place and even the title of the PL next season.
Those players include one or two proper strikers, a midfield player who has a leader’s capacity, a winner’s mentality and is able to score a number of goals each season (someone like Parker for example), one reliable keeper and a dominant and quick CB able also to move forward (someone who has similar skills and qualities like Piquét, Lucio and others).

NO,NO please not Parker. He had his chance and selected to stay at west Ham. Now he looks for a way out because they were relegated. Another young SANDRO….yes, not a old fo.otballer on the way down

looks like a sensible bit of business if palacios goes to Napoli, aslong as we dont pay over £5/6 mil! i am slightly worried that Harry likes Parker too much & that may force Sandro and/or Huddlestone out of the team which, seeing as both are significantly younger, may hinder their progress at spurs! im not denying he is a good player but he seems to be a bit of a big fish that loves little ponds!

WE ALL KNOW THIS DEAL WILL HAPPEN AND GO INTO HARRY’S ‘FAVORITES’ AND SOMEONE MORE TALENTED WILL BE LEFT TO ROT ON THE BENCH JUST LIKE PAV

Assuming VDV, Bale & Modric are at WHL next season, Parker can only be a seen as a squad player. Add Huddlestone and Sandro, maybe Lennon, he’d be 6th/7th in line for four or five starting places. As a squad player he’s a better option than Jenas, Palacios, Bentley, Dos Santos, O’Hara and, unfortunately IMO, Kranjcar. As JMSPUR rightly says, as long as we don’t pay much more than we get for any one of the supposedly outbound players AND it’s a squad strengthening rather than starter purchase I think it’s a good move. If ‘Arry buys him as a starter or pays more than £6/7m then it will end in tears.

I agree with Charles. We have a lot a great midfielder’s it’s up front and another quality defender along with walker back from villa we should be in better shape for the next season and Europe run
