Chelsea are to renew their interest in Atletico Madrid defender Diego Godin, and could make an offer for the Uruguay international in January according to reports on Spanish Radio today.
Back in the last winter transfer window Atletico reported that Chelsea made an offer for both Godin and Sergio Aguero which was believed to be in the region of £50million, but it was turned down and since then Aguero has joined Chelsea’s Premier League rivals Manchester City.

When Godin heard the news about Chelsea’s interest in the winter he said, “Who would not want to play there? To do so would be a step up.” So it appears as though the player himself would welcome a move to England.
Radio station Cadena SER reports that Chelsea are lining up a bid of around €15million for Godin, who has impressed Blues boss Andre Villas-Boas and owner Roman Abramovich with his displays for his country in the recent Copa America which Uruguay won. He is seen as an ideal replacement for Alex who is being linked with a move to Italian giants Juventus.
Chelsea are also reported to be interested in signing Gary Cahill from Bolton so it will interesting to see which player that they eventually go for in January. They could of course go for both as skipper John Terry is five years older than both Godin and Cahill and is a veteran of over 500 games for the blues and cannot go on for ever.

thanks a lot for this wonderful opportunity.
