The news has come in this morning that Roma have put in a sensible bid for Gael Clichy, which means that Arsene Wenger is now in the market for a suitable replacement. Liverpool were the first club to bid for the Arsenal left-back and it now seems that Wenger is going to challenge Dalglish for the Newcastle defender Jose Enrique.
Liverpool have been linked with a move for Enrique for some time, but today the Times reports that the Gunners have opened negotiations with Enrique’s agents with a view to moving to the Emirates.

The Newcastle boss Alan Pardew admitted this week that his offer to the Spaniard to stay at St. James Park has fallen on deaf ears and it looked like they had reached a dead end.
Pardew said: “He has Champions League aspirations and he is waiting to see whether anyone who has qualified for that competition is willing to come in for him,”
“That is his right and there isn’t much more we can do about it.
“We have tried as hard as we can, in the financial situation we are in, to keep him. We offered him an excellent deal, but he doesn’t seem to be interested in signing it at the moment. It is frustrating – but that is the situation we are in.
“It is up to him, but he wants to see what else there is for him.”
So it seems that Arsenal are now hot favourites to sign him, because the last time I looked, Liverpool weren’t in the Champions League. Perhaps this time next year….
So we could be facing him in our first game fo the season…. so that’ll be Hendo facing his old club the mackems & Jose facing us.. great start to the season.. lol
