The Switzerland international midfielder Gokham Inler has. like last summer, been strongly linked with a move to Arsenal. And recently the English press have also been mooting him as a favourite of Rafael Benitez, who is considering him to be an able replacement for Javier Mascherano.
The 25 year-old is a strong defensive midfielder presently playing with Udinese. He admitted at the end of last season’s transfer window that he considered moving to Arsenal but had decided to spend another year at Udinese to continue his development.
He obviously is very settled and happy in Italy and he continues to deny that he wants to move, but that hasn’t prevented the continuing rumours about an Arsenal move.
He started his career at Basel in Switzerland, but was moved to Aarau without getting a game in Basel.
Six months later he was snapped up by the Swiss giants FC Zurich and won the League with them for the next two seasons.
His performances brought him to the attention of Udinese. and his hard-tackling style was thought to be suited to Serie A and he has become a fixture in the Italian side.
He has also cemented his place in the Switzerland national team and has made 24 appearances for them so far.
I am sure Inler would fit in well in the Premiership, but it would seem that he is going to be difficult to prise away from Udinese.
He said just yesterday: “I don’t know anything [about the transfer rumours]. I’m only thinking about Udinese and the rest I leave to my agent. I have four years left on my contract. I am a Udinese player and I want to give my best for this club.”
It would seem that, like last year, he is flattered by the interest, but is likely to say “Thanks, but no thanks.”

Wenger let Inler join arsenal to make your team shine next season with trophies
Wenger should let Inler join Arsenal, since he has failed to capture Melo. We realy need a defensive Midfielder for good hopes of trophes
arsene im a great fan of arsenal and i have eye for what is good or what is bad and i think inler is better than melo and arsene MUST sign him,and arsenal must have a new striker and let adebayor go.
Hey peops, as somebody who followed Inler’s career very close so far, I’m conviced he would add some strengths to the midfield of the gunners. he’s not only very very strong physichically he also does a lot for the game! watch his vids on fairplayagency.com (players -> goekhan inler)
Believe me if this guy would have been Brazilian his market price would be at least 45mio EUR, he’s never injured and he is a true teamplayer!
good luck arsene!
