Wenger deemed not good enough for Real Madrid but Benitez fits the bill

Marca, the Spanish newspaper seen as a mouth piece of Real Madrid have run an article today stating that the current guidelines for the club in its pursuit of a new manager is that he must have won the Champions League and Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger was not included in the list.

That will no doubt please Arsenal fans, though if the truth be known it was hardly likely that Real Madrid would have been able to poach Wenger from the Gunners.

For the record the four coaches named were Inter Milan’s Jose Mourinho, Englands Fabio Cappello, Chelsea’s Carlo Ancelotti and Liverpool’s Rafa Benitez.

Real Madrid though are legendary for their short sightedness, Barcelona who have won two champions leagues in recent years did it with managers that were not previous winners of the Champions League and the idea that Wenger is not deemed good enough now is rather ludicrous,

In fact they may well add Wenger to that list again come the end of the season if Cesc Fabregas lifts the Champions League trophy above his head at the Bernabeau, the stadium chosen for the final.

Wenger has proven ability with both world class players like Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and so forth and his record for bringing on youngsters like Fabregas and even turning Nicklas Bendtner in to a feared striker is second to none and to just dismiss him because he has not won the Champions League is just laughable.

At least Arsenal fans can relax and just worry about losing their captain Cesc Fabregas and not Wenger.

For Liverpool fans they would probably love for Real Madrid come in and grab Benitez and not just grab him but pay for the privilege to do so.

His captain Steven Gerrard certainly wont be lifting the Champions League this season and highly unlikely that he will next season and that could trigger a host of sales at Anfield.

The one concern for Liverpool followers would be that Benitez if given the job at Real Madrid would try and entice the likes of Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard to the Benabeau.

Chances are that he would not be able to persuade Torres to follow him due to his allegiance to Athletic Madrid but the same could not be said about Steven Gerrard.

Once Real Madrid are in the market for either a player or a manager it is time for other top clubs to worry but at least in terms of the managers both Liverpool and Arsenal fans are probably cock a hoop over the so called list that Marca has listed.

as usual it proves madrid have more money than sense-plus they know wenger is the best in the world-so they have less chance of getting from arsenal than hell freezing over!

Yeah. Right? Real Madrid wouldn’t have AW as first choice if they could.

Maybe ‘Marca’ have finally taken the hint that when AW says ‘sod off’ he means ‘sod off’.

  3. Madridista says:

Marca has nothing to do with Real Madrid Or the the fans marca and its journalists are in the middle of a dispute between them and the fans. We want Pellegrini and Higuain to stay all we need are replacements for Raul (Villa), Guti (Silva), a Left Back(Felipe Luis from Deportivo), a goalkeeper (probably diego alves from almeria or adan from the cantera) and a CB to replace Metzelder
