The Arsenal winger Theo Walcott was originally an out-and-out striker before moving to the Emirates and Arsene Wenger has often said that he could be redeployed as a Thierry Henry type hitman in the future.
Walcott thinks that he is now ready to make the switch, and is begging Wenger (not for the first time) to finally give him his chanvce down the middle of the park.

Walcott said today: “I was signed as a striker and I want to play up front,”.
“I think I have done my trade out on the wing. I think a lot of people forget that I’m not a winger. I see myself as a striker, although if I get played up front, it will take me a few games to get used to playing there again because I haven’t played there for about five years now.
“I think I have done a fairly good job on the wing for Arsenal and I will play anywhere for this team but, hopefully, the fans will start seeing me a bit more up front.”
Wenger has bought Gervinho this summer from Lille, and he is very similar to Walcott in that he can play on the wing or up front, so maybe Wenger already intends to swap them around from time-to-time.
But where does this leave Andrei Arshavin?

Walcott is a symbol of what is wrong with this Arsenal team. He has an inferiority complex, says he knows he won’t play all the games. How can a professional footballer plan to play part-time. What is he paid to do if he does not have the ambition to play every single game. Shame on on you Theo, where is your ambition!!
