According to todays Sun, Paul Hartley and Jan Vennegor of Hesselink are both considering offer from clubs in the Greek league. The article says: GREEK club Larissa have revealed they want Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink.
The Celtic striker has not been told if Hoops want to take up the option of keeping him for another year.
That has alerted Larissa, who landed Maciej Zurawski from the Bhoys in 2008.
They are searching for a big-name striker as they bid to improve on this year’s fifth-placed finish in the Greek Super League.
The 30-year-old would also fill the gap left by Zurawski, after he switched to Cypriot League runners-up Omonia Nicosia earlier this month.
Larissa president Konstantinos Piladakis said: “We’re interested in Jan but we haven’t got a response from his agent yet.”
FC Twente, PSV Eindhoven and Ajax have all been linked with the Dutchman.
Parkhead pal Paul Hartley will decide within 24 hours if he’s quitting Scottish football for Greek top-flight outfit Iraklis.
Hartley jetted over for talks with the Salonica-based side on Monday – and flew back last night with a lucrative two-year offer.
SunSport revealed the move for the out- of-contract playmaker on June 6.
Hartley’s agent Mark Donaghy said: “We’ve had good talks with Iraklis and they have made Paul an offer worthy of serious consideration.”
So it looks like Tony Mowbray will not be renewing the contracts of these two players. Will they be missed?
