Tuesday 8th Jan – Transfer gossip round up including Liverpool and Newcastle rumours

Nuri Sahin may be back in Dortmund colors after the Daily Mail reported that the Turkish international’s loan spell at Liverpool could end early as the club is looking to lower the wage bill and Sahin’s former club Dortmund could pounce on the player in January.

Newcastle defender Danny Simpson is looking for a way out of the club to be physically closer to his girlfriend and several Premier League clubs are looking to take advantage of that. The Sun reveals that West Ham are the favorites to land Simpson despite interest from Fulham and QPR.

The Sun reports that Southampton are close to sealing a deal for Inter Milan and Brazil midfielder Philippe Coutinho who is valued at £10 million and is currently on loan at Espanyol.

Swansea are looking to replace Sunderland-bound striker Danny Graham with Stoke’s Kenwyne Jones as the Daily Mail reports that Sunderland are close to sealing a £4 million move for Graham.

QPR have been turned down by Marseille striker Loic Remy as ESPN claims despite Harry Redknapp personally going to France to talk over a deal, he came back empty handed which would please Newcastle who have been strongly linked to the player.

35-year old QPR defender Ryan Nelsen is set to join Major League Soccer side Toronto FC as the new coach according to CBC Sports. The Hoops will no doubt miss the Kiwi veteran in their push for Premier League survival, but have accepted the fact that he wants to move into management.

Didier Drogba could be set for a return to Europe after leaving Chelsea last season to join Shanghai Shenhua as the Independent has reported that Juventus have confirmed approaching Drogba and are checking his availability in January. ESPN also confirms the reports with Juventus wanting the Drogba move to be compatible with their finances.
