Tuesday 11th Dec – Transfer Gossip Round Up

Tottenham Hotspur goal keeper Heurelho Gomes has yet to play a game this season for the North Londoners. The 31-year-old was looking for an escape route in January and was linked with a move to Brazilian club Palmeiras. But, according to Lancenet, the Brazilian newspaper, the president of the club Arnaldo Tirone has denied the possibility of landing him. He was quoted as saying by calciomercato “The player has been offered, but the negotiations were interrupted due to the salary of the player.”

According to reports from the Mirror, Newcastle United striker Demba Ba is set to leave the club in the January transfer window. The Tyneside club have failed to strike a new deal with the Senegal international, and will sell him early on if they cannot convince him to stay. The 27-year-old has already turned down a lucrative offer of £70,000-a-week deal from Newcastle and both Liverpool and Arsenal would be looking to trigger his £7.5m release clause.

Bayern Munich midfielder Frank Ribery has insisted that he wants to finish his career at the German club. The 29-year-old world class winger (contract runs till June 2015) had been linked with a move to majority of top clubs in England in the past and he appears keen to commit his future with the Bundesliga giants for the rest of his career.

Southampton are looking to sign Colombian defensive midfielder Carlos Sanchez in the January transfer window. The 26-year-old would cost in the region of £2m and has also been targeted by Reading and Bolton.

And finally, Reading boss Brian Mcdermott is preparing to delve into the transfer market as he aims to keep his side in the Barclays Premier League. The Royals are struggling in the 19th place with just nine points on board from 15 games.
