The Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has not had a very productive transfer window so far, especially as his main aim has been to bring one or two top class strikers to White Hart Lane.
But it looks like his luck is about to change as the People reveals that he is brokering a deal to take the Atletico Madrid striker Diego Forlan to Tottenham for free.
Relations between the Uruguayan hitman and his club have deteriorated to nothing, but Atletico are aware that they are unlikely to be able to sell the 32 year-old and expect the buyer to match the enormous £160,000 wages he currently earns, so they are willing to let him go as a free-agent if he can find a suitable club.
Redknapp is hoping to persuade Forlan with the offer of their top wage bracket of £90,000 a week and the promise of regular football next season.

With the lack of any other offers Redknapp believes the deal is possible, and as he has been chasing Forlan for the last year he is prepared to go the extra mile to make this happen.
Just 12 months ago Forlan was named as the best player at the World Cup, surely he can’t have turned into a donkey overnight?
Please leave him to rot where he is we needed him last season or maybe the season before he snubbed us and now he needs us we are to save him…think again Harry!

gog – I doubt decisions at any business are made with such considerations in mind. However I am not particularly interested in the club signing a player of this age to be honest. While he had a very good WC last year, it has to be taken into account that the football played in that tournament as a whole really was pretty disappointing. He might have a decent season left in him, but I doubt he’d sign a 1 year deal and we really need pace as 1 of the qualities in whoever plays up front imo. Hope this deal is just a rumour with no substance to it.
