The Tottenham defender Sebastien Bassong has made it clear that he wants to leave White Hart Lane after being left on the bench all season, and it looks like Harry Redknapp has got a plan to bring in his replacement, and also to allow Bassong to escape from his “Tottenham nightmare”.
Redknapp has always admired the Stoke hardman defender Ryan Shawcross, and would love to add his terrier qualities to the ageing Spurs defence. The Metro says that Redknapp is preparing to offer Tony Pulis a deal for Shawcross which will include cash and Bassong going the other way.

Shawcross is the captain at Stoke, but Pulis is well aware that he won’t be able to hold on to the much-maligned Shawcross for much longer as he is highly admired for his English grit and occasional skills, although Arsenal fans wouldn’t be happy to see him join their great local rivals.
The Gunners will never let Shawcross forget that he broke Aaron Ramsey’s ankle last season, and Arsenal fans will abuse him even more if he joined Tottenham.
Shawcross is a talentless thug although his repertoire of career-threatening tackles is up with the best.
Don’t come anywhere near White Hart Lane.
