Tottenham close to selling FOUR midfielders – but not Modric to Chelsea!

The Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp promised that he would be having a clear-out of peripheral Spurs players, and things seem to be moving in the right direction.

In a perfect world, Redknapp would be selling three of his strikers, but it seems that his first sales will be three of his midfielders.

Niko Kranjcar, the Croatian star, is reportedly in talks with Dynamo Kiev with a view to a £5m move. He wll be guaranteed first team football and also a few games in the Champions League with the Ukranian champions.

The Dynamo Kiev president Igor Surkis has announced that they have an offer on the table for Kranjcar, who is worried about losing his place in the Croatia national team and is desperate to play every week.

Surkis said this week: “We are negotiating for Kranjcar,”

“We still have to meet him and Tottenham, but he is in our transfer plans.

“We have already missed out on several players – not because we aren’t able to meet the demands of their clubs but because not everyone wants to come to the Ukrainian league.

“If Kranjcar thinks over our proposal, searches his soul and wants to come here, then we will buy him with pleasure.”

Secondly, Wilson Palacios is reportedly on his way to Napoli in Serie A. The Honduran was an integral part of Harry Redknapp’s team just a couple of seasons ago, but Sandro’s emergence has seen him disappear from the team-sheet.

It is reported that a move to Napoli is imminent for a fee of £12m, and this will definitely give Redknapp the funds to bring Scott Parker to White Hart Lane which is Redknapp’s priority in that area of the pitch.

The third name in the papers is the England star Jermaine Jenas, who would probably walk into the first team of any other Premiership side, but he is now rumoured to be going to Fenerbahce in another £5m deal. Talks are expected to be concluded this week.

The fourth one is already confirmed, with Jamie O’Hara finally making his move to Wolves permanent after impressing on loan last season. O’Hara has rarely seen eye-to-eye with Redknapp and must be happy to finally end his relationship with Tottenham.

He will probably get on better with the Wolves manager Mick McCarthy, who was very pleased to add him to his squad. He said: “He showed some real quality when he was on loan with us last season, and that was having come back from not playing for eight months after a back operation,”.

“Despite that absence, he made a key contribution over the second half of the campaign, and with a full pre-season behind him he has the potential to get even better next season.

“He is a midfielder who is good on the ball, not afraid to put his foot in and also has an eye for goal.

“On top of that he is also a good character around the place who has a positive influence in the dressing room.”

But since Chelsea announced the arrival of Andre Villas-Boas as the new manager at Stamford Bridge, there has been no more rumours of any more Chelsea approaches for Modric, and if Redknapp can use the money from these transfers wisely, he may be able to convince Modric that Tottenham could challenge Chelsea next season…..

“England star Jermaine Jenas, who would probably walk into the first team of any other Premiership side…”

Haha, I’m a Spurs fan but come on, listen to yourself! Can’t wait for him to leave, waste of space and cash – good riddance!

  • Petro

Jenas would “probably walk into the first team of any other Premiership side”. Are you insane?

  • frank

    Is it April fools day?

“Jermaine Jenas, who would probably walk into the first team of any other Premiership side”

  • Pete-e'o

Jenas wouldn’t get into my local woman’s pub team

  • sam

Jenas would “probably walk into the first team of any other Premiership side”. Are you insane? guys he probably meant to say any Premiership fighting at the relegation team….ohara is really a good player he should have joined Newcastle instead since Nolan left the club.

  • spurs muaythai

hahaha jenas would walk around on the pitch in any other club more like it. hes not great! been wanting him sold ever since we signed him!

  • GRU

Since when does playing for England make you a star? Come on Harry, ditch the deadwood. Get in Cahill, Diarra and a quality striker

“this will definitely give Redknapp the funds to bring Scott Parker to White Hart Lane which is Redknapp’s priority in that area of the pitch.” Are you serious mate? Where would he play if he bought him? In place of van der vaart, Huddlestone, modric or Sandro perhaps? Shut up! And Jenas will definately not get into the first team of any other premiership club. He is sh*te. Championship team, yes!

  • Del

Stop slagging off our own players! Yep, some might not be great, but what goes around comes around – he’ll probably score a winner against us next season! Be careful what you wish for!

  • Ism

LOL,Penis is a drag on cash supply and does very little to earn his 50,000 a week, sell him now!!I’d even swim to Turkey with him on my back for that with a personal delivery fee of a handful of brown lumpy things and a kick in the spuds!

Modric made a very clear statement about his future. It would look foolish to both sets of fans if he suddenly changed his mind yet again. He put plenty of thought into making his announcement. He gave a lot of thought to the wording so that it was not too offensive. His decision was not rash, it was well calculated. Modric was clear; he wants to be in a team that can win the league and play in the Champions League, and his choice is Chelsea. Once a player declares his desire to play elsewhere you have to let him go. It makes no sense to keep a player against his will. Such a player only becomes a liability to his team. Everyone knows this. The best thing for Tottenham is to take the money and use it well. When a player goes public, like Modric has, its game over.

  • Seepy

Not fair lads, Jenas played well every time he was on the pitch this season. He would walk onto 16 of 20 prem teams first squad just not tottenhams.

  • marc

Nico for 5 million and Wilson for 12 million I think someone needs to re think the money, Nico in my opinion is a better all round player than Wilson P. He is also far better than Jenas so how they can sell him for 5 mil is stupid, They are better off keeping him (Nico that is)

  • HoxtonBoy

It’s all very well selling them but who are we going to replace them with? I haven’t seen anyone better suggested yet. Jenas is a good player on his day and we are going to need some cover when Modric leaves – and maybe Sandro. Remember half our team were injured for most of last season.

  • Alan

Niko is a great player but he wants to leave to play football and Jenas is a rubbish player but he doesn’t want to leave as he’s on a fat contract at spurs and wishes to lead a charmed life. Notice how he never comes out with any statements. That’s not loyalty. It’s just laziness.

Palacios was OK but Sandro is a class act. Tackles fairly and cleanly whilst also retaining the ball. He’s also highly mobile. The perfect DM.

Modric alongside him makes for a formidable central midfield so we need to keep them both. All we need a striker to pair up with VDV.

  • Me

Cut n pasted drivel, Kranky is not near departing as he’s rather stay in a decent league with a decent salary, can’t see him going to the back end of beyond as the quote from their guy implies. Germany or Liverpool is far more likely eventually.

Fenarbache may have made an offer but again that doesn’t not mean Jenas is actually even talking to them.

Palacious already had everything in place and is waiting for the 2 clubs to agree a fee.

    O’Hara £5 million thank you.

“Jermaine Jenas, who would probably walk into the first team of any other Premiership side…”

That is the funniest thing I’ve heard in a long time – and I am a Spurs fan.

  • Cran DER Vaart

If O’hara went for 5, and useless Palacios for 12, Kranjcar is worth 20, load of rubbish this was

  • Mel

Personally I would be happy to see the back of Jenas – lazy lazy boy!!

  • Conny

I think Jenas is great and would walk into any prem team.
    I am also on crack.
