The Everton boss David Moyes has to sell one of his stars to generate some transfer funds this summer, and it looked like Leighton Baines was the favourite to leave Goodison Park, but it is being reported this morning that the Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is keen on the young Jack Rodwell (as a replacement for Luka Modric?) but will face competition from Roman Abramovich’s Chelsea.
Abramovich is trying to lower the average age at Stamford Bridge and is looking for young stars as back up to his seasoned stars, and the Mail reckons that Rodwell is one of the youngsters at the top of his wish-list.

It is thought that Moyes would rather cash in on Rodwell instead of Leighton Baines as the 20 year-old may be one for the future, but Moyes needs the steel of Baines’ finished product right now, and if he can get £25m for the England U21 star then he can invest the money in a much-needed striker.
Rodwell impressed watchers last night as he helped England to gain a point from Spain in the opening game of the European U21 Championships last night, and if Rodwell continues progressing at his present rate then £25m may seem like a bargain in years to come…..
