Thursday 17th Jan – Man Utd transfer gossip round up

Worried over their defensive frailties, Manchester United are looking at long-term replacements for the injury-prone Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand and the Daily Mail reports that the league leaders sent scouts to monitor Benfica defender Ezequiel Garay, who has been rated at £15 million.

Wesley Sneijder is still hung up on a move to the Premier League and consequently, has not committed to the offer from Galatasaray which Inter Milan have accepted. The Daily Mail claims that the player is hopeful of an offer from an English club with Manchester United and Tottenham the interested parties.

Manchester duo United and City are close to losing out on Sassuolo striker Domenico Berardi as the Daily Express claims that Juventus have opened talks to sign the player leaving United, City, Liverpool and Southampton in the lurch.

Same as every day this month then for Man Utd, they insist that they are not going to active in the market but the media appear convinced that United will be doing some business this January and possibly some significant business at that.
