If reports in the Daily Mail are to be believed then United could welcome back Nemanja Vidic to the fold before the end of the season. The talismanic defender had suffered a knee injury during the Champions League match against Basel and was believed to be out of contention for as long as a year after having had surgery on his right cruciate ligament.
The said daily suggests that the 30-year old was expecting to be fit for United’s pre-season tour to Asia but has made great progress and could be back before that. The Daily Mirror has echoed the sentiments and has also claimed that the player could be running by the end of this month.
Should Vidic return towards the end of the season, then it would give United a massive boost and could give them an edge over neighbours Manchester City in the race for the Premier League title. However, given the seriousness of his injury, one feels that it would be in United’s best interest to give him more time and not rush him into the first team this season itself so that the player doesn’t suffer from a relapse and is fully fit to feature for the Red Devils in the next campaign.
