Inter Milan midfielder Wesley Sneijder had been linked with a move to Manchester United throughout the last two transfer windows and was widely tipped to replace Paul Scholes at the centre of United’s midfield. However, the move could never come to fruition, with many suggesting that the player’s wages had been a stumbling block.
The Dutchman though has now admitted that he knew of the interest from United, but reiterated that there were no concrete offers from the English giants.
He went on to add, “If on the last day of the transfer window an offer had arrived, maybe I would have left. The truth is that I feel at home at Inter, but I do not know where I will be playing next season.”
Sneijder also reiterated that he was not in contact with any other club and also hinted that he might be interested in a move to MLS in the future, something that other European stars including David Beckham, Robbie Keane and Thierry Henry have done previously, but was not giving it serious thought now.
With rumours of disenchantment under manager Claudio Ranieri doing the rounds, the 27-year old could very well be making his way to Old Trafford in the summer, although should he be up for sale then a host of other clubs too could come into the picture.
