Sheff Utd V Newcastle Preview

newcastleNewcastle will be looking to register their fourth away win of the season in eight outings against a team with the joint second worst home defensive record in the Championship.

A win for Newcastle in this game and they will go back top, a draw will see them go second while a loss will confine them to the third spot they currently hold, point being is that a loss would see them just four points above Middlesbrough who are currently seventh and out of the play off spots.

Of course it is too early to speak of play off spots and automatic promotion but a loss against what can best be described as a faltering Sheff Utd side will be a hammer blow for Newcastle and will bring in to serious question their hopes of an automatic promotion.

Sheff Utd need a win themselves as they are closer to the bottom than top but with just two wins in seven home games and a defence that cannot stop leaking goals they are up against it.

They have become something of a draw specialists at home drawing four times and while they have won just twice at home it must be noted that they have lost just once at Bramall lane.

Sheff Utd are low in confidence they have lost the last three Championship games on a trot conceding ten goals in the process but at least they did score three times against Cardiff City in their last home fixture and so there is hope.

Sheff Utd according to the BBC will be without Jamie Ward, Derek Geary, Gary Naysmith, James Harper, Nick Montgomery, Andrew Davies and Lee Williamson, while Newcastle hope to have defensive trio Steven Taylor (hamstring), Danny Simpson (ankle) and Fabricio Coloccini (groin) back in their squad.
Shola Ameobi and Joey Barton are still out.

Ok so those are the stats, injury news etc it is now a case of opinions.
While I accept that Sheff Utd are on a severe losing runa nd conceding goals at will they only lost their first game at home against Cardiff City last week 4-3 and at home they are no pushovers and the truth is I dont feel Newcastle will come away with the win.

Nor do I feel Sheff Utd will eitherand this game has draw written all over it.
Draws are never popular picks, most punters like the idea of their team winning but the best option here is a draw and while one or the other may win this game in terms of value the draw bet is the best option
