Mega rich Russian club Anzhi Mackachkala have reportedly made an enquiry into the availability of Manchester City defender Kolo Toure according to the Daily Mirror.
Toure, who is no longer first choice at Man City, has been in good form since returning to action from his 6-month ban for consuming a banned substance. Toure performed admirably in games against Arsenal and Liverpool, and his national side has reached the semi-final of the African Cup of Nations without conceding a goal thus far.
Anzhi have reportedly expressed an interest in taking Toure on loan for the rest of the 2011-12 season with an option to make the deal permanent come the end of the season. With the Russian transfer window open till 24th February, this move could very well still materialize.
Toure will receive a massive salary hike if he accepts the offer, and will also get the promise of regular first team action. That being said, Manchester City may not be in a hurry to do business with Toure still vital to their first team plans, and young defender Stefan Savic failing to impress in his limited outings at center back thus far. Anzhi though are attempting to sweaten the deal by offering Manchester City a substantial loan fee, but Mancini is likely to resist temptation for the next few months at the very least to ensure that he has some quality cover at the back as he makes a run for the League title.
