While many were surprised to see Paul Scholes come out of retirement to Manchester United’s rescue, in a new development that is sure to have a similar effect, the evergreen midfielder has been touted to make a return to the England set up for the Euros.
Throwing his weight behind the ginger headed star is no other than the person who is widely tipped to be the next England manager, Harry Redknapp. The Tottenham manager was quoted by the BBC as saying, “You’d love to have Paul Scholes in the Euros. He’d be in your team, he’s that good. He plays like a Spaniard, he can play like Xavi and Iniesta. He doesn’t give the ball away.”
Scholes last played for England in 2004 and although he no longer has youth on his side, given his passing abilities, he certainly will be a valuable addition to the England set up. Scholes too might be tempted to play for the national side one last time, considering the fact that he no longer has to think about prolonging his club career. This is definitely an interesting development and should Redknapp take over the reins, then maybe he could use his people skills to lure Scholes back for one last hurrah.
