England international Scott Parker believes that the absence of Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has cost Spurs dearly in recent weeks. Redknapp has been embroiled in a court case fighting charges of tax evasion, and has not been able to focus sufficiently on his job as Spurs boss.
Tottenham’s form over the last few weeks has been a bit of a mixed bag, picking up 5 points out of a possible 12, including draws with Wolverhampton Wanders and Liverpool to go with a defeat at League leaders Manchester City. Their only win during their last four outings came at home to bottom of the league Wigan, a side they famously beat 9-1 a couple of seasons ago.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Parker said, “Harry gives that extra bit of energy. We’ve missed him the past couple of weeks.”
While Harry Redknapp has missed the odd training session due to his legal worries, his absence from pitch side was truly felt on Monday night with the Tottenham boss unable to make the trip over from London to Merseyside due to poor weather conditions. In his absence, the title challengers were held to a 0-0 draw by Liverpool, thereby leaving Spurs 7 points off the pace in the title race.
