QPR V Leicester Preview

QPRThe two teams didn’t play each other in the League last season as the Foxes (Leicester) are a newly promoted side that topped League 1 last season whilst QPR finished 11th in this league. No doubt this will be a thrilling match that will see two teams in the upper half of the table battle for the coveted top two spots that will earn them automatic promotion to the EPL.

A quick glance at the table will reveal that together with Newcastle, the duo with a GD of +13 is the second highest to Cardiff City (+15). In fact the fantastic goal tally for the home side only came of late. In their last 3 matches here at the Loftus Road Stadium, QPR have chalked up 13 goals (average 4.3) and conceded only 3 to give them a +10 GD in just 3 games. More importantly, their strike rate reflects the fact that they are currently in a fiery form especially when one recognizes the fact that their last 3 oppositions had been quite good teams (Barnsley 5-2, Preston North End 4-0 and Reading 4-1).

The Foxes come to Loftus Road on the back of 2 consecutive wins over Crystal Palace (2-0 at home) and Reading (1-0 away) and those have made them unbeaten in their last 5 consecutive matches. In fact, the match will have a lot of sparkle because the visitors have lost just once away from home when they went down narrowly (0-1) to Newcastle at St. James Park. Nevertheless if there is any yardstick of measurement upon which one can pick the winner here it will the fact that also Leicester went down 1-2 at home to Preston North End, the team Rangers had soundly whipped here.

With the home fans that had been fed with barrages of goals in the last 3 matches creating a winning euphoria here at Loftus Road, they will no doubt spur their home side for more. With the venue that offers familiarity that is so important in those finishing touches at the goals, it is without a doubt that the home side will score a handful to win this match – bet on it!
