It is being reported today that the QPR manager Neil Warnock has decided that he needs another striker to help the West London club stay in the Premiership next season, and according to todays Mail, Warnock is looking to raid London neighbours Tottenham for Jermain Defoe.
Harry Redknapp’s preferred forward partnership at the moment is Emmanuel Adebayor and Rafael Van Der Vaart, with Defoe warming the bench, and Warnock is hoping that the promise of first team football may persuade the 29 year-old to make the short journey to Loftus Road.
Defoe is not getting any younger and he could have perhaps one more big pay day before he retires and he really needs to playing week-in-week-out if he is to retain his place in the England team for the Euros next summer.
The Mail reckons that there are other clubs like Everton, Newcastle, Sunderland and Aston Villa are also interested in Defoe, but a move across London to QPR would be much more appealing to the big hitman than uprooting himself further north.
