The hard-man West Brom defender Paul Robinson has decided that he doesn’t want to play in the Championship next season, and has asked his manager Tony Mowbray for permission to move to another Premiership club.
His old boss Gary Megson has offered £1m to WBA for Robinson, who has been at West Brom for six years. He was strongly linked with a move to Celtic last season but decided to extend his contract with the Baggies.
He said: ‘I’ve got to the stage now where I can’t face playing in the Championship again, I feel I’ve proved myself in the Premier League.
‘I’m 30 years old and I’ve been up and down the divisions a few times. I hope that the club will be sympathetic to my situation.’
