The Bolton manager Owen Coyle has been linked with a move for the Man City winger Shaun Wright-Phillips for some time, but the wages that SWP is on at the Eastlands has always been a sticking point.
But Coyle is still trying to get a deal done to get SWP to the Reebok, and is hopeful that the out-of-favour ex-England star can have some of his wages paid by Man City after Roberto Mancini made it clear that he wouldn’t be in his Man City squad for next season.

Coyle said: “Shaun is a tremendous player,”
“He is someone I would love to bring to the club. Whether it is possible, only time will tell.
“There are financial implications involved. Players at Manchester City are on contracts that are more than we could pay. There is a threshold we cannot go beyond.
“But there has been dialogue between our chairman and (City chief executive) Garry Cook. That is where we are at the moment. There is nothing concrete.”
Man City are desperately trying to reduce the amount of unwanted players on their payroll, so it would make sense for them to at least recoup some of it through a deal with Bolton, and despite interest from Sunderland and Wigan, Coyle is still the most likely destination for Wright-Phillips.
