Not Van Dijk – Liverpool could seal deal for defender January

Liverpool are one of the highest scoring side in the Premier League
this season. The Red Devils attack are flying high under Jurgen Klopp
but despite that their defence has been far from impressive.
The hole in their back-line was evident again in the 3-4 loss to Bournemouth
over the weekend.

With Joel Matip unavailable for the match due to injury, Klopp’s
make-up centre-back were a disappointment. Obviously the Premier
League title cannot come to Anfield with that defence.

They brought in two centre-backs and a goalkeeper in the summer but
they don’t seem to have provided the answer to their defence woes.

There has been speculations about the club wanting to sign in-form
Virgil Van Dijk from Southampton in January but the latest report in
the media has it that Liverpool have shifted their attention to Fulham
starlet, Ryan Sessegnon.

As per the Mirror, Liverpool are interested in the services of the
left-back who can also play as a left midfielder. James Milner has
been Liverpool’s first choice in that position relegating Alberto
Moreno to the bench. The addition of Sessegnon will offer competition
for Milner.

Man United, Arsenal and Man City are also reported to be interested in
the wonder-kid. The Gunners had a bid of £3 million rejected for him
last January and City are planning to move ahead of Liverpool to seal
a deal for the defender.

He has scored two goals in the Championship for the Cottagers, making
the youngest scorer in that division.
