The Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew will be very happy to find out that the club have succeeded in persuading the French international midfielder Yohan Cabaye to move to St. James Park, despite having won the French title with Lille.
Cabaye will give up the chance to play in the Champions League next season, to take avantage of a clause in his contract with Lille that allows him to move this summer for just 5 million euros (£4.3m), and Newcastle are set to be the lucky recipients of his services.

The Lille coach Rudi Garcia let the cat out of the bag yesterday when he said: “Yohan told us on Saturday that he had made the decision to join Newcastle.
“I respect his choice, even if I am disappointed because I would have liked to have continued with him.”
So it looks like Newcastle have a ready-made replacement for Joey Barton……
