The Manchester United midfielder Nani understands that the Bulgarian striker Dimitar Berbatov is upset about being overlooked for the Champions League Final in favour of the veteran Michael Owen, but he still wants the ex-Tottenham star to stay at Old Trafford next season.
He said: “I don’t know what he has in mind but everyone knows he’s a fantastic player.
“He has scored a lot of goals for us, finished as the top scorer in the league, and I would like him to play for Manchester United again next season.
“I don’t know which players will be coming in but most important is that the ones who stay fight for us.”
It was a massive snub from Ferguson by leaving him out of the team, and it looks like the Scot is trying to force him to find a new club, especially when Fergie made it clear that he thought Owen more likely to score a crucial goal in the Champions League Final.

Ferguson said: “I found picking my subs very, very difficult. I tended to overload with midfielders. I thought that was the area that was most important in terms of the way Barcelona play.”
“It was a choice between Michael Owen and Dimitar Berbatov. If you’re looking for someone to nick a goal in the last few minutes of a game, Owen’s experience is why I took that decision.”
Despite being the League’s top scorer, Berbatov lost his Man Utd starting spot to Chicharito, and now he has been relegated from the bench. If I was Berbatov I would be looking for another club right now…..
