Having taken a 2-1 narrow lead at home in the 1st leg, Inter Milan’s Jose Mourinho comes back to Stamford Bridge as an opponent now with one thing on his mind, and that is to finish what he had started 2 weeks ago and get his side into the final 8 at the expense of his former club Chelsea.
Inter’s Samuel Eto’o says his manager is ‘cool’ and his side is well prepared. “Mourinho going back to Chelsea is a big thing for him but he is very professional and will be prepared for the situation,
“Chelsea are the favourites and the pressure is on them. Every minute that passes without a goal on Tuesday will add to that pressure. They will feel the tension.
“We will attack them from the start and if we win this game then I believe we will go on to win the Champions League.”
The Chelsea boss Ancelotti revealed he had no problem with Mourinho, but admitted the Champions League was his ‘favourite’ competition.
“There is no problem with Mourinho. It’s a game between Chelsea and Inter, not me against Mourinho,
“We know it will be a difficult game against an excellent team, but I think we have a good possibility to do our best to win and go forward. The atmosphere is a good atmosphere to have before a game against Inter.
“I think we don’t have time to be worried. We have to stay concentrated, have confidence, have courage, have personality, only with this can we win the game.
“I’m excited because it’s a fantastic game. All the world will look at this game and this is a very good motivation for me. It is my favourite competition. For Chelsea it is important, but so is the championship.
“It is important to stay calm. These are the games that put a lot of pressure on us. We have to have good control of this pressure because this is the right way to play well.”
Although Mourinho is highly rated, and especially amongst the Chelsea fans themselves, Ancelotti’s record in the CL still gives them hope he can turn around the Blues fortunes and overturn the narrow deficit to lead them to their 1st CL title. After all, Ancelotti won the title 2 times with AC Milan, so why not with Chelsea when he actually has a higher winning % (in all competitions) with them than he ever had with former clubs; Milan, Juve, Parma and Riggiana.
