M’bia leaves Everton and Arsenal at the altar…….again!

The Rennes defender Stephane M’Bia has, for the second time in 12 months, decided against a move to the Premiership with Everton or Arsenal. A report on Sky Sports says that he has decided that Marseille is his new favourite club. The article says: Rennes midfielder Stephane Mbia is hopeful he will complete his ‘dream move’ to Marseille as soon as possible.

The two Ligue 1 clubs are currently in negotiations over the 23-year-old but, according to Mbia, their valuations of the Cameroon international differ by €2million euros (£1.7m).

Everton have also been closely linked to Mbia but the player appears to have his heart set on a move to the Stade Velodrome.

“My lawyer and my father are studying the different offers even if Marseille are in first place,” Mbia told RMC. “My wish is to join that club as soon as possible.

“The financial aspect is stopping it still but I’m confident it will be sorted.

“It’s close to succeeding. My coach Pierre Dreossi, who has always advised me well, wants to find the right time to agree. But I have chosen Marseille.

“Rennes want €12million (£10.3m) while Marseille are offering €10m (£8.6m). We’re working towards an agreement. I’m not holding it against Rennes, the club I developed at, who are right to claim what they need.

“I talk every night with the coach (Didier Deschamps). I dream of playing under his command and he told me he’s waiting for me.

“I hope there will be a quick agreement because I have chosen l’OM.”

After all the shennanigans last summer, most people were sure he would be at Goodison Park or the Emirates this year. Could he have fitted into a Premiership team?

  1. Phil says:

Obviously, no-one in the premiership wanted this little wanna mbia.

  2. James says:

He’s not good enough to play for Arsenal, and the last thing we need is another fickle player.

  3. Mike says:

Why do we pursue these mercenary twats?
For the second year running he (and his agents) have used EFC to improve their own prospects.
I hope his career ends in shreds.
    The man’s an arsehole.

  4. EvertonAl says:

This lad has had more fukkin dreams than Rip Van Winkle. Last year, and last month, his ‘dream’ was to play for Everton. He’s since had ‘dreams’ to play for Arsene Wenger, Olympic Marseille, and, probably, for The Wizard of Oz. If he’s happy to play in Europe’s 5th best league then good luck to him, but I wish he’d stop leading us, and any other prospective English buyer, a merry dance with his ‘dreams’.

To be honest, the last thing we need is another mercenary looking for a huge pay packet while waiting to move to another ‘dream club’. Give it 12 months and he’ll be telling us of his ‘dream’ to play for Man City for £90k a week.
