The Rennes midfielder Stephane Mbia has told SkySports that he will be leaving the French Ligue 1 club this summer. Arsenal amd Everton have both been strongly linked with Mbia, but last summer Rennes refused to let him leave, but promised that he could leave this summer. He continually emphasised that he wanted to join a Premiership club.
Everton boss David Moyes was seen at the Rennes v Bordeaux match earlier this month, fuelling speculation that he was still very interested in the Cameroonian international, while Arsene Wenger is looking to strengthen his team and the powerful 6’2″ African would add some steel to his young team.
Mbia has been at Rennes since he was 17, but expressed his desire to move yet again yesterday. He said: “I had an agreement to leave at the end of the season if all parties are happy, so I can’t say yet what will happen.
“There are many good clubs linked according to the press so let’s wait and see. The season is almost finished.”
