The Blackburn striker Matt Derbyshire is currently on loan to the Greek giants Olympiakos, and after scoring two goals for them in the Greek Cup Final, would really like to make the move permanent.
Derbyshire was the hero for his side after coming on at half-time when they were losing 0-2. The game went on to finish 4-4 after extra time and Olympiakos won the Cup on penalties.
Derbyshire said: “If you’re asking me if I’d like to stay here then yes, of course, but it isn’t down to me it’s down to Blackburn Rovers and Olympiakos. I’m hopeful that something will happen.
“There haven’t been any talks at all at the moment. Obviously I will have to wait until the end of the English season to see what happens with Blackburn and negotiations will hopefully start then.”
“Overall it’s s been a fantastic move for me. I’ve got to thank my agent for arranging this move and Blackburn for letting me come out here.”
On top of the two goals in the Cup Final, Derbyshire has also scored five goals in just seven league matches, so Olympiakos will be very keen to come to an arrangement with Blackburn as well.
