The Man City manager Roberto Mancini has made it clear that he wants the Roma midfielder Danielle De Rossi to become the latest big-money arrival at the Eastlands.
Mancini said last month: “I need something else in midfield because we have limited options,”
“I have Barry, De Jong, Milner and Toure – but if you consider the number of games in the league, the Champions League and the FA Cup that is not enough.
“Daniele De Rossi would be absolutely perfect for this team and I rate him as one of the best midfielders in the world.
But now it seems that Roma have opened talks with de Rossi over a possible contract extension. Mancini blamed the draw at Fulham last week on the lack of midfielders at the club. If City lacks…well anything…I think it’s a coach. They definitely have a bucket-load of top class midfielders.

AS Roma’s football chief Claudio Fenucci has confirmed yesterday that they started negotiations with the Italian international for a contract extension. He is currently a Roma player until the summer of 2012, and reports say he would accept a wage offer of €6.5 million per year.
“De Rossi’s new deal? We have taken a small step forwards regarding this,” Fenucci daid in Gazetta Dello Sport.
It seems Manchester City will still remain midfielder-less with de Rossi now facing a new contract. It’s too bad they didn’t transfer Nasri, Hargreaves, Barry, Milner, David Silva or others….but wait…they did! Somebody from the Etihad Stadium should knock some sense into manager Roberto Mancini before he buys every top midfielder in the world.
