Joleon Lescott believes that Manchester City hold the advantage over Tottenham and Aston Villa in the race for that final Champions League spot.
He does accept hat Man City cannot take anything for granted but feels that with six of their last nine games at home that it is them and not Spurs and Villa that have the advantage,
“Six of last nine games will be at the City of Manchester Stadium, two of them against Spurs and Villa, so home form will be hugely important,” he declared. “We cannot take anything for granted but we have been good at home this season.
“We feel we lost two points at Sunderland because we missed so many chances to score in the second half but we still feel as though we are in the driving seat in the race for fourth place.
“The manager told us at half time that what we had produced wasn’t good enough and we improved after the interval. Now we have to carry that forward to Fulham this weekend.
He has a point but then again they still have to beat both Villa and Spurs and that is no easy task, they had to rely on an injury time goal against Sunderland from Adam Johnson and that is not necessary the form that will see them win all their remaining games.
In fact if they don’t collect maximum points against Fulham they could easily find themselves playing catch up and running out of games.
The run in will be a very tight affair and the truth is that any one of three can still grab that final spot.
