The Liverpool striker Andy Carroll hasn’t been playing enough for Kenny Dalglish’s side to be considered for England right now, but there is still one Liverpool forward in with a good chance!
Joe Cole moved to Lille during the recent transfer window after enduring a terrible time at Liverpool where he played just a handful of games, but despite his move across the English Channel England coach Fabio Capello still has Cole in his sights.
Cole has started well in France, so well in fact that Capello has had Cole watched twice in the last week. Firstly on Saturday when Lille won 3-1 away to Auxerre in Ligue 1, and then again on Tuesday in the 1-0 Champions League defeat against Inter Milan.
Cole last played for England at last years World Cup, in that 4-1 humiliation against the Germans, and he thought that would possibly be his last ever game for England. In a recent interview he said, “Having not been picked for a year, turning 30 next month and with the young players having come in and done well, you start to wonder. Are they still looking at me?”
Well Joe Cole can rest easy for a while as Capello is clearly watching him, but whether he has done enough to get a recall remains to be seen.
