It is not often that the bookies get it wrong but it seems they may have got carried away with all the talk of crisis at Liverpool and underestimated the Merseysiders chances against Lyon.
Some perspective is required, yes Liverpool are not having the best of times but Lyon are not the unbeatable team in French football they once were, they have been beaten at home this season albeit rarely but even so they are beatable.
It should also be pointed out that Lyon hardly beat a full strength team at Anfield and in some respects were lucky and lets not forget that Liverpool have a European pedigree second to none when their backs are up against the wall.
Unibet a well known and much respected online bookies are offering a price of 3.10 on Liverpool winning against Lyon and for us that price is far too large.
Liverpool must win its as simple as that while Lyon know a win would see them qualify, a draw is almost as good, point being is that this is a all or nothing game for Liverpool, not quite so for Lyon.
Liverpool have shown in the past in Europe that when their backs are against the wall they come out fighting and I am of the opinion that this will be the case on Wednesday and I will be taking some hard earned cash off the bookies in the process.
The bookies are taking a chance here especially Unibet and the odds of 3.10 look serious value to anyone that shares the same opinion as me and that is that Liverpool will get the win they need.
