Merseyside rivals Liverpool and Everton are ready to go head-to-head off the pitch as TalkSport understands that League Two side Chesterfield are willing to listen to offers for 21 year old winger Tendayi Darikwa. Both teams are reportedly set to table a £2 million bid for the player this month.
Darikwa has progressed through the youth ranks at Chesterfield and after spending a year on-loan at Barrow, he made his senior debut for Chesterfield in 2011. He has been in impressive form since and was awarded the League Two Young Player of the Month for December 2012. His consistent displays earned him a new contract late last year that keeps him at Chesterfield till 2015.
Liverpool have lacked width in attack this season with Raheem Sterling the only winger to impress, forcing Luiz Suarez to drift out in the wide areas several times during a game. Daniel Sturridge was recently signed by the Reds from Chelsea but the England international has expressed his desire to play in a more central role rather than on the wings.
The report claims that Chesterfield are welcoming offers for Darikwa as they have resigned themselves to losing the player after his impressive performances attracted interest from several Premier League clubs.
