According to a report this morning both Arsenal and Tottenham were in talks with the sacked Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti at the end of last season. When it was announced that Ancelotti would be leaving Stamford Bridge he was inundated with offers from many clubs to re-enter management straight away, but the Italian turned them all down citing the wish to take a one-year sabbatical from football.
It is not thought that Arsene Wenger or Harry Redknapp were in danger of being replaced, but it seems that Arsenal and Spurs expressed a wish for Ancelotti to join their scouting team to pinpoint young tallent for the future.
A friend of Ancelotti’s was quoted by Goal as saying: “At the end of last season, Carlo was approached by Arsenal and Tottenham.
“There was dialogue and he would have accepted either of them if they had made a concrete offer.”
But he added: “Arsenal and Tottenham did not pursue their interest.”
Ancelotti himself has announced that he is verykeen to carry on working in London but denies that he said he would be taking a year off.
“I love London. I love England. I love the football in England – the culture of the football. The atmosphere at the grounds. The competitive nature of the Premier League.” he said.
“Right now England is the best country in the world for football.’
“I haven’t said I want to take a year out,”.
“I’ve said I’m not afraid to spend one year out, trying to find a solution that enables me to stay in English football.
“If I can find the right solution, the right team, I will be very happy.”
It would certainly be interesting if he started working for one of Chelsea’s main London rivals…..[ad#Betway Text]

We should have got him not only for young talent scouting but to get him used to the squad for when harry leaves for england job he would be a good replacement
If Ancelotti is still available after Wenger gets it wrong again this season … we need to recruit him as Manager !!
