Ferguson’s signings make Arsene Wenger look stingy

Reports are circulating around for the past hour that the Aston Villa midfielder Ashley Young has agreed personal terms with Manchester United in a transfer that’s likely to be completed when the player returns from his holidays.

It emerged yesterday that the Premier League champions Manchester United had met with Ashley Young’s representatives over the proposed move to Old Trafford, which will place him alongside Sir Alex Ferguson’s other new signing yesterday Blackburn’s Phil Jones.

It has been no secret that Young wanted to play at a higher level sparking all the speculation surrounding him wanting to leave Villa Park, and the player who has also passed a medical with Manchester United looks set to be a Red Devil next season.

Sir Alex Ferguson has been a long time admirer of the England international midfielder, and had been looking at him as a long term interest or some time, whilst Liverpool were also linked with the possible signing of the former Watford player.

With Ashley Young now part of a new looking midfield at Old Trafford it looks very comfortable viewing for Manchester United fans, not so much for Arsenal or the other top Premier League clubs fans whose clubs have not delved into the transfer market yet – although lets not forget Arsene Wenger has a signed a young 19 year old defender from League One’s Charlton Athletic – please note the sarcasm in this comparison.

Im glad Wenger hasn’t spent 16 million on Jones, and 20 mill+ on young. they aren’t woth the money! I want Wenger to buy the right players….the price is irrelevant!

  • Tombo

Don’t get ahead of yourself, its early days yet. I’m with Darran, they are just too expensive and I think a few people will have egg on their face when Arsene starts bringing in a few more quality players. He’s going to surprise a lot of people this summer.

Yeah… what a stingy twat! Remember in 2000 when Lazio bought Crespo for 35 million, now THAT was a signing! All Barcelona did that year was buy some kid from Argentina with a growth deficiency for the price of medicine , Jesus van Gaal was stingy!

I don’t think there’s that much to be frustrated about right now. its just the beginning

  • Boris

Asene Wenger is not worried even one bit.He will prize all players in the world without buying any.At best,he will buy kids for £1mil. I have ressolved to keep supporting Arsenal while praying for Wenger’s resignation or even death. The idiot of a coach(wenger) is an idiot,a joy killer and his spending philosophy is complete boncumbe.

The heading doesn’t quite refkect the content! My response to your heading is that rather, Sir Alex’s signings suggest greediness. E.g, he bought Berbertov for 32m while Tevez was still there! How does he hope to keep all of the players happy?

Hazard, Falcao, Gervinho and a cenre half and we’re sorted….

  • brigi99jam

Boris, I also hope for you to change the club you claim to support, or actually die as well, cuz you are wasting valuable oxygen that normal people require. Sir, you are an absolute moron, and a disgrace to Arsenal supporters everywhere. I, for one, would transfer you to another club(to support) for an orange peel and a glass of pipe water.Idiot. Arsenal doesn’t need you.move on.. See yah..

whoever thinks that jones and young is not worth the money is right but only for a year or two. what people dont understand is that SAF is building a squad that will continue to perform under a new manager when he’s gone. the 2011 title was just a bonus, no one expected manu to win this year. jones has so much to offer and young will be worth 30 mil in a few years. SAF knows what he’s doing and yes its early yet. MANU need to sign at least two more players to sub scholes and VDS.

  • sani

I think this could be fantastic signing,so don’t blame wenger

  • Dave

Fcuk u everyone in support of Wenger. We’re tired of misers

  • Mad Red

@Lanz simply, by rotating them. Sir Alex is master from that point of view. Remember, no player is regular starter in Man United, not even Wazza.

  • denhen

Axel’s desire is to win trophies and cups. Wenger’s desire is develop youth players. That makes the difference between paying market price for experienced players and pay small sum for youth players( to develop them and sell them at experiened players’ price.)

    #Darren,
Wenger show interests in Phil Jones but lost out (do not forget that Jones spoke to Wenger before decided to join Alex.) Obviously, Jone chose Man U as desire is there.

Ashley Young is 26, it’s hardly a signing for the future. He’s a good player but behind Theo in the England set-up and 5 years ahead of him in his development. When you think that’s almost enough to get you Eden Hazard it’s a total rip-off. This illustrates the difference betweem Man U and Arsenal. At United they can spray cash around and spend well over the asking price whereas at Arsenal they look for value-for-money. Gervinho for half the price of Ashely Young, nobody can persuade me that United would be getting the better deal. @Tombo well said.

  • Leon

Its only the beginning of June – nothing to become concerned about. Padraic great post mate and lets not forget a small midfielder signed from Barcelona for peanuts. Boris – you are an insufferable twat if spending huge sums of money is what makes you happy go support Man City.

  • Strongback4

Since David Dein left the Arsenal Board, they have struggled to sign players. These days all we hear is ; I was interested in Ronaldo, I was interested in Kalou and so on. May be Arsenal should reinstate David Dein. He was a brilliant deal maker. Remember he brought Arsene to the club. Even though that might not sound great at the moment.

  • willybilly
