Fabregas is Barcelona’s new target as Ribery extends contract

According to a report in todays Daily Star, the European Champions are going to step up their chaee of Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas. The article says: BARCELONA will step up their £35m move for Cesc Fabregas after missing out on Franck Ribery.

The Spanish and European champions feel the French midfielder Ribery will join Real Madrid.

So they will now turn their focus to Fabregas, who has been on the Nou Camp club’s wanted list since last summer.

Fabregas has committed himself to Arsenal and boss Arsene Wenger has absolutely no intention of selling his skipper.

Barca are the 22-year-old’s boyhood club and he has often talked about going back to the Catalan outfit because it was where his career began.

Barca boss Pepe Guardiola would like to unveil Fabregas with Spanish striker David Villa as soon as possible.

He knows it will take a lot to prise the central midfielder away from the Emirates.

But Guardiola is convinced that if the offer is big enough, Arsenal will be forced to listen.

A Spanish source said yesterday: “The club are convinced that Fabregas wants to play for Barcelona, despite what he has been saying about staying at Arsenal. It will all come down to money.

“Barcelona feel £35m would be enough to turn Arsenal’s heads.”

Fabregas has said 1000 times that he is not leaving Arsenal. Why do these rumours persist?

Tripe. Utter tripe. How do you know this? I guess Guardiola picked up the phone yesterday and called you didn’t he? He though “I must ring Footy latest, they’re the guys with their finger on the pulse of the game”. I reckon you’re using that bastion of honest and truthful journalism The Sun as you source for this epoch-making story. Get a life, you bunch of wallies!

  2. Stevesai says:

Sorry but will not happen this year. It is defienately goin gto happen but l do not hink it will until Iniesta retires, which is 2 years away

    than wait and see.

When Iniesta is too old too play well, Fabregas will move then to be guaranteed first team football, somehing Barcelona cannot offer now
