England talk flatters Redknapp but admits doing England part time is a big ask

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has admitted that he is flattered at having been touted as the successor to Fabio Capello as the manager of the England national team.

Speaking to the BBC, Redknapp stated, “It is nice that people put me in a position where they think I’ve got a chance of the job. Yes, it’s flattering. Other managers have come out and said nice things and I appreciate everybody’s support in everything that has happened in my life in the last little spell.”

The veteran manager also went on to add that he might find it hard to take over as part time manager as managing both club and country is too big an ask. He also stated that managing England is a tough prospect and that no one has an instant solution, especially if a manager of the stature of Fabio Capello found it challenging.

Redknapp also expressed his satisfaction with his current job at Tottenham and reiterated that unless there is an official approach, he will not consider anything. However, going by Redknapp’s comments, he certainly does seem interested in the England job and could yet be tempted to make an exit from Tottenham, should the FA lift the phone and give him a call.
