Derby V Coventry preview

derbyBoth sides are in awful form, with Derby losing 3 on the trot and winless in 4, and Coventry winless in 5 and managing just 2 draws in them.

Derby are 20th on the table and are sliding down dangerously fast. They even lost their last game to bottom team Ipswich town, and anything but a win today could see them sucked into the relegation red zone already.

Coventry are slightly better at 16th, but only 3 points and 3 goals separate the two, meaning if Derby win by 2 goals they will overtake their guests.

The H2H record is almost balanced with it being 1-3-1 for the last 5 games at Pride Park. I say “almost” because Coventry haven’t won in the last 4 visits, while Derby won their home game last season, and managed a draw on the road. They also won away in 06-07 but only managed a draw at home.

The Rams boss Nigel Clough has a major injury problem on his hands to deal with. At least 5 regulars are on treatment currently, and there’s not much depth in the squad to compensate for their absence.

Coventry scored only once in their last 4 games combined, so it’s no wonder they cannot win. They also have some problems regarding injuries, so neither side will be at their best.

I would suggest this game is bound to go under 2.5 goals. I’m not sure if Derby can win without half of their best XI, but I don’t think they will lose either.

Picks:

Under 2.5 goals @ 1.83 w/ Pinnacle
Draw @ 3.39 w/ Pinnacle
