David Villa is NOT in talks with Barcelona according to Valencia and that can only be good news for the likes of Liverpool and Man Utd who have been linked with the players for some time now.
The Valencia president Manuel Llorente has been quoted saying the following
“Valencia is not negotiating and has not negotiated with Barcelona, at all,”
He has also stated that he will speak with the player and his representatives to find out if they have spoken with Barcelona
“That I will find out when I meet people directly.”
Manuel Llorente also accepts that his players are coveted by the best clubs.
“They are players who are wanted in international football and it is not strange that important teams want them. We are used to it.”
Does this now give hope to Liverpool and Man Utd or is this just the final utterances from a club president about to lose his best player to Barcelona?
Since he has been quoted as not wanting to go to the manure I would think this is only good news for Liverpool!

I know many will disagree with me but it doesn’t seem that Villa would fit into Rafa’s scheme. Gerrard just behind Torres in a 4-5-1 led us to scoring the most goals in the prem last season. If we reverted back to a traditional 4-4-2 would we simply put Gerrard back into the midfield? This would also of course mean we would have to give up or becnh either Xabi or Mascher to accommodate Gerrard and we all know we can’t let class like that ride the bench, especially at those weekly wages…
Oh yeah, did I mention Manpoo has a much larger bank roll than Liverpool? As well as Chelsea and City?
Lets just be honest, there are too many hurdles to bring Villa to Anfield and it doesn’t seem like the right move anyway when you look at all of the angles.

If Villa came to Liverpool I would play him on either the right or left side of midfield. He would have plenty of attacking opportunity but would give us more speed and skill than kuyt currently gives us on the right.

Villa is too old to settle well in England – his price tag is too steep – players commanding fees in excess of 30mil need to be young enough for their club to be able to re-coup their investment – at least that is the only logical way forward as otherwise football is doomed.
barca are dealing direct with the bank (that effectively owns valencia)…it is not llorente’s decision to make and villa has said publicly that he would not consider a move to england at all regardless of the club
