Cesc Fabregas ruled out of Arsenal v FC Porto clash

It’s the news that no Arsenal supporter wanted to hear. The Gunners face something of an uphill struggle to overturn their 2-1 first leg deficit against Porto and it’s something which has been made considerably more difficult with the announcement that they’ll have to try and manage this without Cesc Fabregas.

Since emerging into the team as a nineteen-year-old, the Spaniard has become increasingly important to Arsenal and his absence will leave a gaping hole in the middle of the park. With Aaron Ramsey and Robin Van Persie also sidelined, it will be interesting to see how Arsene Wenger assembles his attacking players.

The Frenchman must hope that Nicklas Bendtner is less profligate in front of goal than he was against Burnley on Saturday, where the Dane missed a flurry of chances which might have been costly against better opponents. In the Champions League knockout stages, teams need to take chances that fall their way, although will they come to rue the absence of Fabregas?

“Profligate”, it`s become a buzz word like “awesome” on Facebook, what`s wrong with wasteful then even I can understand what they`re talking about.?
We talk` team talk`, we talk `togetherness`, we talk `team spirit` etc. then as soon as one is injured we get the jitters. I`ve watched matches this season where you would be hard pushed to know Fabregas was on the field and he got a player rating (from those who know) of four. So, what`s the big deal, we`ll still win as we did before when we lost our skipper. Lets just hope that Bendtner does not `profligate` too much tomorow.
