League One relegation battlers Millwall produced the shock of the fourth round of the FA Cup, ousting Championship promotion challengers Southampton 3-2 at St Mary’s Stadium on Tuesday night. Liam Feeney came off the bench in the dying moments of the game to score the winner and set up Millwall with a date with Premier League strugglers Bolton Wanderers in the fifth round.
Millwall took the lead early in this game through Liam Trotter, only for Southampton to draw level in the first half through Adam Lallana. Substitute Rickie Lambert grabbed his 18th goal of an impressive season to give the Saints a foot into the last 16, only for former Southampton man Dany N’Guessan to draw Millwall level within a space of minutes. Feeney then produced a dramatic winner in injury time to send the Lions through.
Also advancing to the last 16 of the FA Cup were Blackpool, comfortable 3-0 winners against Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough. Goals from Matt Phillips, Lomana LuaLua and Ludovic Sylvestre saw Blackpool produce the kind of form that saw them win many admirers in the Premier League last season. A trip to Goodison Park beckons for Blackpool in the fifth round.
