Birmingham want bad-boy Barton!

Joey Barton fell out with Alan Shearer at the end of last season and Newcastle are looking to offload the hardman midfielder, and according to a report in todays Observer, Birmingham are keen on giving him a chance: Birmingham City manager Alex McLeish is keen to take Joey Barton off Newcastle’s hands – but only on an initial season-long loan with a view to a permanent transfer.

Barton had been suspended indefinitely by Alan Shearer at the end of last season but, with Newcastle still managerless, he has been allowed to resume pre-season training.

However, if and when Shearer finally takes charge his first act will be to move Barton on.

Birmingham could offer a mutually satisfactory escape route but the midfielder’s wages of around £65,000 a week could represent a stumbling block as Newcastle would prefer a clean break.

Do Birmingham fans want him at their club?

Get used to playing with ten men because he will spend more time on the bench than on the pitch.Hes no role model for our young suppoters
to follow or our academy players to look up to.You must be DESPERATE.

  2. dare says:

you must of been DESPERATE to take him in the first place

  3. Matthew says:

We’re not desperate I personally don’t like him but I do think he could do a job for us, if he wants to play football that is. If he wants to continue to be a prat then he’ll be straight back to you lot in the Championship, Mcleish and the supporters wouldn’t put up with him.

I find it amusing Sam, if your your a Newcastle supporter, saying we must be desperate, your club is run like Trotters Independent…
