The Birmingham manager Alex McLeish has decided to call off Bobo Balde’s offer of a pre-season trial with the Blues. McLeish has always been an admirer of Balde, but was let down by him last summer, when the Celtic defender decided to let his contract run-out at Celtic so he could earn more money, rather than get playing time on less money.
But, rather than wait on Balde’s decision McLeish has brought in Scott Dann, Roger Johnson and Giovany Espinoza to the Birmingham squad, and has now decided to forget Balde.
I spoke to Bobo and we were very honest and open with each other,” said McLeish.
“I said I’ve got my quota of centre-halves and that I’m going to have to withdraw the invitation.
“He was maybe disappointed, but I know that Bobo will get something.”
Are Birmingham fans underwhelmed with the news that Balde won’t be at St.Andrews next season?
