In a surprise announcement, it has been made known that Patrick Vieira was in Birmingham for talks yesterday. The ex-Arsenal star is trying to find a club where he can play as a first-team regular, with a view to regaining a place in the France team for next years World Cup in South Africa.
Last week it was thought that Vieira would prefer to stay in France as he would be in view of the France national team, but the Birmingham boss David Gold insisted that the deal was not dead.
Now that Vieira has been seen in Birmingham it would appear that Vieira is thinking seriously about a move back to the Premiership.
It would appear that regular playing time is the most important thing for Vieira. He told reporters: “I have a year left on my contract with Inter.
“I want to play week-in week-out to prepare well for the World Cup in South Africa.
“I will definitely know about my future very soon.”
Do Birmingham fans still think that Vieira is good enough to play at the highest level?
