Barcelona not interested in Arsenal star

Despite speculation linking Robin Van Persie with Barcelona especially after the extension to his contract has apparently stalled are without foundation according to the Spanish press.

If Barcelona are to get a an Arsenal player it will Fabregas and no one else if the reports are to be believed, Barcelona already have other attacking wingers/strikers in their crosshairs and it does not include Van Persie.

Barcelona have made a concerted effort in recent years to rid themselves of Dutch players and have none in their current squad, in previous years Dutch players have been in abundance but the fans turned against this and only the legend that is Johann Cruyff has any Dutch influence at the club anymore.

That is not to say that Barcelona would not go Dutch again, they may well do and they may even look at Van persie if their other targeted players fall through but as things stand they have no interest in the player despite what has been reported.

If any Spanish club is interested it would be Real Madrid but even they have begun to realise that what comes with Dutch players is problems and disharmony, no other group of players argue like the Dutch, their history both at club and national level is riddled with it.

The likelihood is that Van Persie will sign another contract though if Fabregas does leave then anything can happen.
